Identity Verification

Confirm you're a real person and earn a verified badge next to your name across A2Me — optional, free, and private.

What is Identity Verification?

Identity verification lets you confirm you're a real person so you can earn a verified badge next to your name across A2Me. It's completely optional and free — a simple way to show your family and connections that you're who you say you are.

The check is handled by a trusted third-party verification partner (Persona). A2Me never sees or stores your ID document — the entire check happens with the partner, and A2Me is simply notified when you finish.

Your status moves from not started to in progress (pending), and then to verified — at which point the badge appears — or to failed/expired, in which case you can retry. The result arrives automatically, because the partner notifies A2Me as soon as you're done.

Why It Matters

Family is built on trust. When you're sharing memories, photos, and stories with the people closest to you, it matters that everyone is who they claim to be. A verified badge gives your family confidence that your account belongs to the real you.

Because verification is handled by a trusted partner and your ID document never reaches A2Me, you get the reassurance of a confirmed identity without giving up your privacy. It's entirely your choice — verify when you're ready, at no cost.

How to set up

  1. 1

    Open identity verification

Go to Settings → Identity Verification.

  2. 2

    Start the secure check

Tap "Verify your identity" — a secure check opens in a new browser tab with our verification partner.

  3. 3

    Follow the partner's steps

Follow the partner's steps (typically a photo of your ID and a quick selfie).

  4. 4

    Get your verified badge

Once approved, a verified badge automatically appears next to your name across A2Me. If you accidentally close the tab before finishing, just reopen the check from the same screen.

Example Usage

Scenario: Maria wants her extended family to know that her A2Me account is really hers before she starts sharing decades of family photos.

She opens Settings → Identity Verification and taps "Verify your identity." A secure check opens in a new browser tab with A2Me's verification partner, where she takes a photo of her ID and a quick selfie.

While the check is in progress, her status shows as pending. A2Me never sees the ID she submitted — only the partner handles it. When she finishes, the partner automatically notifies A2Me of the result.

Moments later, a verified badge appears next to Maria's name across A2Me. Now when her cousins and grandchildren see her posts, they know with confidence that they're connecting with the real Maria.
